Species: SCORODITE Fe3+AsO4·2H2O Locality: Parker Mtn. Mine, Center Strafford, NH Specimen Size: 3.3 cm specimen. Yellow-green scorodite crust on lollingite. Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: 1499 Notes: Lollingite and Arsenopyrite from New Hampshire pegmatites frequently have a green Scorodite crust present. Individual crystals are usually too small to be resolved with typical stereo microscopes. An EDS analysis was performed to confirm the scorodite species at the Parker Mtn. mine. |
Species: SCORODITE Locality: Parker Mtn. Mine, Center Strafford, NH Specimen Size: 4 mm field of view. Yellow-green scorodite balls on lollingite with unknown orange mineral. Field Collected: Bob Janules Catalog No.: A Bob Janules specimen Notes: |
Species: SCORODITE Locality: Parker Mtn. Mine, Center Strafford, NH Specimen Size: 5.5 cm specimen. Yellow-green scorodite crust on lollingite. Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: NC Notes: Only a mineral species collector is likely to bring home a crust mineral such as this one! Being an arsenic mineral, this crust is pretty toxic, so wash hands after handling. |
Species: SCORODITE Locality: Parker Mtn. Mine, Strafford, NH Specimen Size: 1.4 mm field of view. Micro crystaline scorodite. Field Collected: Bob Wilken 2020 Catalog No.: A Bob Wilken specimen & photo Notes: |

Species: SPESSARTINE Mn2+3Al2(SiO4)3 Locality: Parker Mtn. Mine, Center Strafford, NH Specimen Size: 5 cm specimen with salmon-pink spessartine garnet embedded in lollingite. Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: 1851 Notes: Previous Parker Mtn. mine species lists have indicated "Almandine-Spessartine" without being more specific. An EDS analysis shows that the spessartine garnet species (Mn dominant) is present at Parker. The almandine species may be present as well, perhaps in the pegmatite wall zone. |

Species: SULFUR S8 Locality: Parker Mtn. Mine, Center Strafford, NH Specimen Size: 0.1 mm, (very tiny), clear to pale yellow balls of Sulfur Field Collected: Bob Janules Catalog No.: u533 Notes: EDS analysis confirmed these tiny, rounded, crystals were native sulfur. These were found in a zone of weathering sulfides. -- Bob Janules, personal communication. The possibility has been suggested that this sulfur may be a blasting agent residue. The Europeans and Brits prefer the "Sulphur" spelling. |
Species: SYNCHYSITE-Ce Locality: Parker Mtn., Strafford, NH Specimen Size: Largest hex tablet: 0.4 mm Field Collected: Unknown - From MMNE 2018 symposium sales table Catalog No.: u2247 Notes: Multiple probings of a November 2018 tiny crystal on carbon tape (BC298 - set 21) gave ambiguous and inconsistent results: EDS analysis . I think the Ca is legit. The unlabeled mush around 1.7 to 1.8 KeV may be silicon. The peak just above O may be F. All that can be said from this analysis is that it is an interesting REE mineral. A photo of the label on the micro-box is included. A February, 2019 polished grain EDS analysis , (BC321 - set 23) gave synchysite-Ce the "best fit". So I will catalog this as synchysite-Ce. Tan hex tablets are a common form for synchysite-(Ce). The REE content quantified from this analysis is quite low for synchysite-(Ce). However, parasite-(Ce), another Ca-REE mineral, has twice the REE-Ca ratio. |

Mine, Center Strafford, NH Specimen Size: 8 cm specimen. 4 cm triphylite-lithiophylite zone with rind of ferrisicklerite and heterosite Field Collected: Ron Bonney, purchased in 1982 by Gene Bearss Catalog No.: Notes: This "triphylite" has a more greener shade than most NH triphylite. An EDS analysis shows Mn and Fe content about equal. The EDS analyst opined that it was "slightly Mn dominant" so slightly on the lithiophylite side of the series. |
